Kicking the Salt Habit ? Healthy Substitutions for U…
Written by Talia on June 29th, 2008So you’ve become aware about the perils or excess salt.
We’ve talked about eliminating adding additional salt after a meal is cooked.
We’ve talked about how eating out, take out caned or prepared foods, usually offers you more salt than you need.
You know most likely you’re consuming more than you should (5oo mg a day…)
And now like a good sensible person, you’ve considered you might actually do something about it.
but what do you do?
Well you know you can make an effort and get results, just by cutting back salt ever so little, and then perhaps a little more, till you ‘wean’ yourself from the salt craving/addiction/habit and lose your taste for it.
You’ll be glad you did when you discover you’ve Improved your chance of normalizing your high blood pressure, and avoided Hypertension.
As a reward for your devoted efforts, here’s some things to consider to highlight the flavor of food (as salt does). These are some alternatives, some other ways to heighten the flavor of food naturally.
One such twist, is a twist of lemon or lime juice, herbs of your choice, such as fresh or dry thyme a delicate herb, rosemary and Oregano for a stronger flavor, fresh or dry dill ( a much forgotten herb), even a teaspoon of organic coconut oil, depending on recipe, and if you plan and factor in the total calories.
I hope you found this post on healing Hypertension/cure helpful, and speaking of calories, i’ll be back speaking about that soon.
I’ll write about a healthy diet, that keeps you happy…
Back soon,
