Handling Stress for Avoiding Hypertension/High Blood Pressure, Caring for Your Emotional health, and Sustaining Positive Relationships.. A short Meditation/Trance to keep you in charge..
Written by Talia on July 25th, 2008Most of us live in a Stressful World, we can’t avoid getting on the train or bus without hearing cell phone conversations from the seat next to us.
There are so much aggravation, ‘noise pollution’, stress on the job, stress at home, that we may well need a vacation every few days to recover from it all.
Many of us can’t afford such a luxury as a vacation once a year, let alone once a month or once a week…
But stress is a serious culprit to health, so finding ways to cope with stress is a crucial skill for all of us.
People who are emotionally healthy handle stress well, and this post is about exploring what/how we can be emotionally healthy to better cope with the stress we encounter daily.
One helpful tip is to visualize yourself at the center (at the eye of the storm), which is like being in a cocoon of protection. You can practice this anytime you wish, the more you can practice the more comfortable you will be when you are in the middle of a stressful spot, with many people around, lots of noise etc..
In the practice, you take a few minutes to do a ‘visualization’, meaning you sit in a comfortable quiet spot ideally, and with closed eyes, and after a few minutes of quiet , feel your energy feel your breath going in and out without any ‘effort’ on your part.
You will shortly feel your energy getting more grounded, and your mind more focused, now direct your mind to feel grounded in that still energy, and to remember this feeling.
Doing this will help you take this clear energy with you in your day and into the rest of your life.
Try this exercise when you have a spare moment, no big deal, no special set up needed, just whatever it takes to make you feel comfortable/at ease, and the next time the kids are pulling at you, or your boss loads you with a pile of work that makes your hair stand, take a deep breath, imagine or rather take yourself back in your center, be in the eye of the storm, and watch the storm take it’s course without Your full participation.
Hope this helps, it works for me.
