The Hidden Culprit Behind the Silent Killer – High Blood Pressure/Hypertension - Choose Your Body Weight!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

You may have heard high blood Pressure/Hypertension being referred to as the Silent killer.

Why that tag?

Hypertension got it’s name as a silent Killer because often the are no specific symptoms that cry out as Hypertension (until complications arise/develop).

The symptoms of complications depend on the organs involved.

Millions have Hypertension, or elevated Blood Pressure and don’t know it, since they need to be tested ( a simple 10 second test)

Most people with high blood pressure are overweight.

Losing/Dropping ‘Weigh’ lowers blood pressure significantly in those who are both overweight and those ‘hypertensive’, with High/Elevated Blood Pressure.

In fact, reducing body weight by as little as ten pounds can lead to a significant reduction in blood pressure.

Discover what works for you to improve your chances of losing weight and keeping it off.

According to research or other evidence, the following self-care steps may be helpful:

Aim for total nutrition with a Multivitamin.

Extra vitamins and minerals will help enure your body gets the nutrition it needs, especially if you are avoiding certain foods ..

Find a diet that fits.

For long-term success, choose a healthy diet that you can stay with.

Creat a custom exercise plan, exercise you truly enjoy is much easier to stick to, so activities that fit your style, fitness level, and work out times are best.

Find Support, by getting the support you need, you improve your chances for long-term weight loss.

Join a group that is supportive, while you adjust to new diet/plan and exercise regimen.

These recommendations are not comprehensive and are not intended to replace the advice of your doctor or pharmacist. Continue reading my articles for more in-depth, fully-referenced information on medicines, vitamins, herbs, and dietary and lifestyle changes that may be helpful.

Boost Your Immune System with the Positive Attitude of Gratitude - Beware Your Body Believes What You Think!!

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

Yes for many years if not for many decades we have heard about how your mind affects your body, your thoughts affect your body, your Body believes what you think, and really your thoughts affect everything.

We innately know this Truth, this law of Attraction, this basic currency of the way things work in our world.

You would think we would hold this information, this Key to unlocking the mysteries of Manifesting near and dear to our hearts, and live from it like crusaders or evangelists.

But the puzzling truth is we forget, we get distracted in this dizzying, fast spinning world.

We forget that we can have our dreams, shoot for the moon and in short be enlightened wizards of the world, making magic and spinning webs of light and joy into the world…

You may wonder what this has to do with Hypertension/High Blood Pressure?

Well, only Everything…

When we are not living the life we L O V E, Life doesn’t love us back, as way of saying, Dead end Road, Proceed no Further, Change Course, Switch Gears, Change Tracks,  Back Up, Slow Down, find Another Way, Correct and Continue, ok, you get the Idea…

Actually to be fair to Life…

Life always has it’s arms open, Heart flowing, always and forever ‘Open Door Policy’, but our confused minds, and lost Hearts keep taking us to ‘Closed Doors’, ‘Do not enter Zones’, ‘ Knock yourself out Area’,  ‘Closed Vault’,  ‘Closed’ Signs, ‘Someday Maybe’, ‘Can’t be Done’ Doom, ‘Too Hard to do’ Destinations…

Instead of  where we want to be, in the flow of life, in the river of Plenty..

So Focus on the positive, Keep your eye on the Prize and…

Don’t Look back,  ‘It’s NOT where You are Goin’…..

Research Shows a healthy & positive attitude helps build a healthier immune system, even Boost ‘Overall’ Health.

A healthier Immune System, means lower risk for Hypertension & High Blood Pressure.

So think and stay ‘Positive’,  Follow your Bliss as they say,  and ..
Focus on Gratitude, it will open your Heart, and attract More Good to You.

My Best to you,
Journey Well,

Healthy Food Tip to Reduce High Blood Pressure ..

Friday, August 1st, 2008

I just love it when I discover something in nature that helps with Health, especially overall health as in Hypertension & High Blood Pressure.

We as Humans have such a rich history we’ve all inherited by virtue of being born on this planet earth.

All the people that have come before us and left the earth plane, leaving behind something of benefit for us all to use, enhance our lives, making our lives a little better and richer.

It is smart to harness such knowledge to help with High Blood Pressure/Hypertension, etc.

This tip is something from nature, so in my book it comes with the highest recommendation.

You’ve heard how for years rolled oats and eating oatmeal has been publicized as being helpful in lowering cholesterol levels.

Well now, it is with great pleasure that I introduce a pseudo- grain (not quite a grain, therefore doesn’t have the same high starch qualities as some other grains like wheat or rice).

This nutritionally wonderful pseudo- grain, is a seed know as ‘Amaranth seed’, which is easily found in health food stores, and other food markets.

‘Amaranth’ is considered to be one of the most nutritionally wonderful ‘seed’ (they are really tiny) especially for Vegetarians, it is a totally Vegetarian product.

Several studies have demonstrated that ‘Amaranth seeds’ or oil, like oats may be of benefit for people with Hypertension/High blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.

Particularly if consumed on a regular basis these simple foods are know to reduce Blood Pressure and cholesterol levels, while improving you immunity and other benefits …

Most fruits & vegetables do not contain a complete set of amino acids, so alternate sources of protein would be necessary.

What makes Amaranth so unique and wonderful is that it contains some very rare and valuable amino acids normally only found in animal- origin foods.

Amaranth seeds like buckwheat and quinoa contain unusually complete protein for a plant source.

This simple to do step/practice that can alter your life track in unexpected ways, if you implement…

Health is a choice, you can do it.

Start Today!

My Best to you,

Gastric Bypass Shows Great Promise for Treatment of Hypertension Patients – What is the connection?

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

In an Ideal world we are all at our ideal weight, excellent health, free from migraine Headaches, Obesity, High Blood Pressure/Hypertension, or Heart Disease.

The reality however is much different.

Being overweight or obese, is a marker for Hypertension/High Blood Pressure disease.

In fact one of the fastest growing elective surgeries, Gastric bypass (useful for those who are morbidly obese), and surpassed only by Breast augmentation, offers many benefits for patients with Hypertension.

As you may know, the greater the body weight, the higher the risk for many ailments including Hypertension/High Blood pressure.

It is projected that those that undergo gastric bypass surgery, 75% of patients lose up to 80% of their body weight, and 80% will go off their Hypertension Medications.

This is very encouraging news.
Though Gastric Bypass surgery may not be for everyone who may not be obese, it may work very well for the obese and those with elevated blood pressure levels. It may be  worth to go get some guidance and clarification from a health professional or Doctor.

This is a drastic measure, and a big step which requires some inquiry and pondering.

The final decision is yours, but it’s best not to do this alone.

Besides the usual medical crew, get your fiends and family’s support, as well as attending some support groups for people who are considering this option, where people who have already gone through this process typically attend and are more than happy to answer questions or help in any way.

There are other ways of coping with hypertension/High Blood Pressure, including diet & exercise, which I talk about in my other Blogs.
Enjoy reading as many as you can.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy… Really? The Simple ways of Hypertension cure…

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Is this a trick Question? Is this like the, which came first puzzle? The chicken or the egg, which came first? And does anyone care anyway? Maybe…

Sometimes I feel people say ‘Don’t worry, be Happy’ as a way of shutting people out, or shutting them down, or not wanting to go too deep in discussing something, so they just blurb out ‘don’t worry, be happy..’ with a sugar coated smile.. What can you say after that? Who can argue with that? and then there’s really nothing to say.

So the rebel in me really wants to talk about this now!

What does it mean ‘don’t worry, be happy?’

Does hearing those words make me happy or low?

If  I’m expressing something and it shows some vulnerability, like maybe I’m not so certain of an ability I have, or not sure I can get the result with something, or I’m doubting my value, and someone said : ‘Don’t worry, be happy..’ that would be something very unexpected, and so long as the person saying it has a good heart and good intensions,  I think it would stop be in my tracks so to speak, and make be think about possibly placing more value in myself ,  perhaps putting fun first, and not worrying to much about the result so long as I’m really playing, and giving something my all…

Can we afford to Worry? Isn’t life just too short for that?

Can we rally not Worry? Okay, maybe Worry less??

Maybe the expression should be, ‘Worry less, be happy’?

I have to admit it doesn’t rhyme as well as ‘Don’t  worry, be happy’ but it sure seems more humanly, and more doable.

So ‘Worry less, be Happy’  or  ‘Don’t Worry be Happy’ both are good choices, and promise to normalize your Blood Pressure, and avoid Hypertension.

Nothing is worth putting your health at risk, having High Blood Pressure.

So go for it, be happy with what you have in your Life right now, and send Hypertension on an extended all expense paid trip or cruise.

Heck, go on a Cruise yourself.

If  Hypertension can go on a Cruise, so can You.

So be It.

Be healthy, Be well,

Tips on Getting to know High Blood Pressure

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

The heart is a beating muscle that pumps oxygen rich blood to the body through a network of arteries & veins. What we refer to as ‘blood pressure’ is the measurement taken when the heart’s left ventricle contracts and blood is forced through the arteries.

As the blood travels from the heart it exerts pressure against the walls of the arteries.

This is referred to as ‘Blood Pressure”.

Blood pressure is used to evaluate the force & amount of blood being pumped from the heart as well as the condition & flexibility of the arteries.

There are two components in a ‘blood pressure’s measure, the first is ‘Systolic pressure’ where blood pressure is at it’s highest.

The second component is the Diastolic pressure, this measure is obtained when blood pressure is at it’s lowest point, and the heart is in it’s rest between beats.

The combined measurement is read as the Systolic Pressure over Diastolic Pressure.

Abnormally high pressure within the arteries is called Hypertension or High Blood Pressure, if same result shows on 3 separate occasions.

Free and Clear hypertension Tip of the day…

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

There are as many ways to look at, learn about Hypertension as there are Grains of Sand around the world. Not sure of the exact number, but a lot… lol

If you already have read about a dietary approach, you may be cutting back on your Salt  intake, or you may be walking more than ever, and things like that if done consistently  over time, will make a wonderful difference.

But consider this tip:  Consider that your Mental and emotional state has a positive or negative effect on your Hypertension and Blood Pressure Health.

Try this Mental Workout/Exercise:  The idea is to find things ‘Right’ around you.

I’ll Illustrate with an example: Say for example that your Husband/Wife significant other does something on a regular basis that irks, upsets and bothers you, like comes home late on a regular basis for an example.

You may be convinced that you are right about this and feel that you have every right to be mad about it, and you may even be able to write a thesis about all the points about why he/She is wrong and must change this.

But what does that get you??

Yes, you are right, probably High Blood Pressure.

Here’s a suggestion that may be helpful.

Now, understand that I’m not arguing about whether you are right or wrong, or your right to believe whatever you chose to, but consider entertaining or consider trying this:

Consider Entertaining two levels of awareness at the same time!

That means you are right for thinking that their behavior is less than ideal or what you’d like, and they are right for feeling that they need to do what they feel they must do at this time.

Consider ‘Finding them Right’, even better, actually Find them Right!

Finding Someone or Something right is a great first step, a gift you give yourself and others around you, and it is just a decision away, without giving up anything really, because you can/are ‘Simply accepting the situation’!

Accepting the situation doesn’t mean you agree with it, only that you accept it.

Furthermore you can accept it (the situation) and negotiate/request a change in the status quo, a change in the way you design & author the future.

It is a bit like agreeing to disagree. That’s agreement.

It also happens to be the fastest way to move forward.

Finding People, places, Situations ‘Right’ will go a long way to Healthy Blood Pressure.

Opps, hey, don’t forget to find yourself ‘right’, remember to (decide) to make yourself right for all that you do, even if you never ‘improve’ it all, or change your mind in the next moment.

Hypertension hates stillness and tranquility, so right or wrong, be right and protect your Health.  That’s freedom and true win.

Let me know what you think, and Tell me how this changes things in your life, for better or worse.

My Best to you,

Talia*

Just How Much Salt do You Need Anyway? And How much should You Use?

Friday, June 27th, 2008

Just How Much Salt do You Need Anyway? And How much should You Use?

Why are we even talking about Salt?

If you followed my last post I wrote about how lowering salt is helpful when  you have hypertension, or want to reduce Salt for general Health reasons…

Not just to lower High Blood Pressure/ Hypertension.

But, I believe the more one has a clear understanding of what they want to achieve or desire, with clarity about what their goal is, and the steps they need to take to get what they want or more of, the better chance of achieving what they desire….

In this case, the desire is health, to lower Blood pressure, to avoid Hypertension …

I will try to make it as clear as possible, while giving you clear and specific measures of the amounts of Salt intake that are safer and are a step in a good direction for your total health & Well-being, as well as elevated Blood Pressure/Hypertension.

Be aware that if you already have Hypertension, too much Sodium can exasperate your problem.

Even though it is fairly well known not to add Salt for example, to already made/prepared meals, still many Americans unfortunately do!

How much salt do need anyhow?

Specifically, you only need about 5,oo mg  per day.

Most Americans consume way over that amount.

How much is the current American using ?

Currently most Americans ingest as much as, at least 7,ooo mg per day!

This does not help Hypertension, needless to say & to put it bluntly.

However there are some ways of coping with this situation, but a basic practice would be to reduce the salt intake, to meet or come close to the guideline above.

This process does require time and patience, it does not happen overnight, but with time and practice, it will make a difference in your Health.

Do this practice gradually, and you will have success…

I will sign off now, and be back soon with tips on how to highlight the flavor of food Naturally…

Be Well,
Talia*
